During each round, one player acts as the executive producer, and the others try to give them movie pitches based on a character card and a plot card. However, at some point during every pitch, the executive producer can add a notecard to the pitch and force the writer to add some truly terrible new elements to their film. At the end of the pitches, the executive producer chooses which movie they liked most and the game continues from there. In groups of 6-12, players split into teams of two and must work with a partner to pitch their film. This also means there are two executive producers, and each of them gets a chance to play a notecard on the pitch, leading to some pretty ridiculous movies.

Sleeping Gods: Dungeons adds six dungeons to Sleeping Gods. Each dungeon contains a map and stories. In a dungeon, the gameplay will be slightly changed from the regular game. Each card is printed on thick card stock (Letter-sized, 8.5×11 inches). A separate dungeon booklet contains all the descriptions, encounters and puzzles you will experience during your exploration. You can access these dungeons in specific locations in the atlas of the Sleeping Gods base game. When you reach a location that contains a dungeon, you can choose to read from the standard storybook or explore the dungeon located there instead. The specified location number is located in the upper left corner of the dungeon map. Each dungeon contains dangerous traps, vicious monsters and treasures for you to find. Because dungeons take longer to explore than a standard location, there are a few minor changes to the game when you enter one.
