In Kyoto no Neko, 2-4 players take on the roles of kittens exploring the modern city of Kyoto, Japan, through a series of independent, replayable scenarios. In each scenario, players must complete various missions that represent typical feline behavior, such as befriending a schoolboy, fighting an aggressive stray cat, or stealing food from another player's bowl. As the game progresses, players will evolve, developing their skills and gaining the ability to explore new parts of the map by climbing bushes and rooftops. Using a skill system, each player interacts with some of Kyoto’s inhabitants, both animals and people. Each turn offers the chance to discover something new about the city, as players reveal elements ranging from small insects to specific objects or Kyoto residents. In Sparks, each player runs a robot factory and takes turns being the active player. As the active player, you play one of your production tiles to take a number of dice from the scrap heap; all other players then take one die each. All players use their dice simultaneously to complete robots or upgrade their factory. You can also use sparks to activate the abilities of your completed robots, or use gears to recruit animal assistants. You start the game with six assistants, each with a unique ability, and your strategy must be built around them. The variety of assistants ensures that each game offers a new challenge. In the advanced game, players draft the assistants, which offers even more strategic possibilities.

For the first time in Terror From Destiny, there is no killer (or henchmen) to fight. At least, none that you can see or attack. Instead, the killer is death, fate, or destiny (take your pick). It will slowly claim the lives of the Destined Victims: five special victims that are tied to the story and are always present, regardless of location. You must save as many of these victims as possible, because for every victim you fail to save, fate will exact a heavy toll at the end of the game. But there’s a catch (as always): the Predestined Victims must be rescued in a VERY specific order, an order you don’t know at the start of the game! Make a mistake and rescue the Athlete before the Cheerleader, and fate will not appreciate your interference.

Islebound: Emerald Edition is a special edition of the game with some modified components and rules. It is best viewed as a variant of the game, rather than a 2nd edition. Islebound: Emerald Edition Upgrade Pack was available for owners of the original edition. The metal coins and painted wooden ships were also available separately as Islebound: Emerald Edition Deluxe Components. This edition of Islebound removes the book resource from the original game and replaces it with emeralds. Emeralds have different uses than books. You collect them when visiting a player-controlled city and when you take over a city. Emeralds must be used to purchase building cards, and they can also be used to perform special abilities, such as retaining pirates and snakes after battles! The building deck has been adjusted to account for this resource change. It includes modified building cards from both the original game and some from the Metropolis expansion. There will be no building card expansion for Islebound: Emerald Edition, and the Metropolis expansion is not compatible with this version.
