Cities are growing, commerce is flourishing, and we're working on our most ambitious machine yet: a gigantic contraption that will bring even more progress to the city. Sure, some trees are being cut down and the river is flowing less vigorously than it used to, but there's still an abundance of trees and water. We could certainly use that extra space to expand the city—and it's not like the ancient creatures of those woods can do anything about it.
In Daitoshi , you choose during your turn whether to produce or move your magnate to a new district. In that district, you can put your workers to work, exploit forests or river areas to satisfy your insatiable need for steam, and perform an action to assert yourself in the city.
These actions not only contribute to your quest for recognition but also help all the inhabitants of the great city. You expand the city and provide districts with electricity, discover and develop new steam-powered inventions, and trade with distant cities. Perhaps you even participate in the construction of the colossal urban project: the Mega Machine. This involves clearing forests and draining rivers, but in your generosity, you give the displaced workers from those areas new jobs in your service.
