Video Game Champion takes players back to the nostalgic setting of the early 90s, where they step into the shoes of kids who have to balance multiple activities such as earning an allowance, studying and immersing themselves in the enchanting world of 16-BIT gaming. From browsing through video game magazines to renting games, asking your parents for gifts and pressing buttons for hours, the game captures the essence of that era.

Mechanically, players navigate the game by strategically selecting tokens from an Action Grid, with each token activating a corresponding action result from its column or row. The challenge lies in managing resources such as money, button tokens, and "I Owe You One" tokens, adding depth to the decision-making as players attempt to maximize their points by completing games with Poker-style token combinations, exploring new releases, and completing various mission objectives unique to each play session.
