When the Roman emperor Hadrian Augustus visited northern Britannia in 122 AD, he witnessed the aftermath of the war between his armies and the fierce Picts. In a show of Roman might, he ordered a wall built that would separate the Pict tribes from the rest of England. Large in its design, the wall stretched 80 Roman miles, from coast to coast.
In Hadrian's Wall, players take on the role of a Roman general, presiding over the construction of a mile castle and an adjacent wall. Over 6 years (rounds), players will build their fortress and wall, man the defenses, and attract citizens by building services and providing entertainment - all while defending the honor of the Roman Empire against the wary Picts. The player who can amass the most fame, piety, courage and discipline, while avoiding contempt, will prove to the Emperor that he is the model of the Roman citizen and be crowned Legatus Legionis!
The Games Friends: This game is an absolute favorite! It is a wonderful puzzle, with many tactical choices and little interaction. At the beginning it sometimes feels a bit overwhelming when you see all the choices, but once you get started it plays very smoothly. All this makes Hadrian's Wall unique and a real hit!
