Stars of Akarios is a story-driven, cooperative campaign game set in the Akarios Galaxy. Throughout Stars of Akarios you will fight in epic space battles, upgrade your ship, and explore the far reaches of space. The game is built on four core pillars: Space Combat, World Exploration, Space Exploration, and Player Progression. Each pillar works together to create a cohesive and epic, sci-fi board game experience.
You and your fellow cadets are nearing the end of your pilot training at the Akarios Institute when an unknown enemy attacks your homeworld, Medellia. You must fight back with the war hero, Captain Soma, and her ship, the Sparrow. You’ll have to step out of your fighter ships to explore hostile worlds and ships, testing your cunning as you search for a new home for your civilization. Use your pilots’ skills to complete the challenges you encounter within the limited time you have. Manage your ship's resources as you explore new areas of space and embark on missions to survive in the unknown. Even if you run out of resources you can continue to explore, but you risk starting your next encounter at a disadvantage. Your pilots' skills will grow as you test your resolve against the enemies in Stars of Akarios. Upgrade your characters' unique skills and skill trees, allowing you to customize your playing experience.
The 200-page scenario book unfolds like a "choose your own adventure." Every choice, success, and failure will shape your story. It will take multiple playthroughs to see the entire Akarios galaxy. There are 8 different pilots, each with their own unique progression sheet and set of skills. The campaign begins with 4 pilots available and the others are unlocked by the choices you make. There are 10 pilot ships, each with their own set of skills and class. The ship class determines what type of upgrades the ship can equip. Equip a combination of upgrade and skill cards from over 55 weapon cards, 55 engine cards, 55 tech cards, many copilots, ship skills, and pilot skills. Place every upgrade on your dual layer player board where everything has its own spot.
