In Terraforming Mars, humanity tries to make the planet Mars habitable in the year 2400. There are three major pillars that are important for this: temperature, oxygen and water. Each player plays with an organization that will do its best to be the first to make Mars habitable. In Terraforming Mars you play cooperatively and against each other. Together you try to increase the temperature, oxygen level and amount of water. The organization that has ultimately made the greatest contribution to this and has the most points in total wins Terraforming Mars.
Terraforming Mars Prelude and other expansions
Terraforming Mars contains a large amount of cards and options that ensure great replayability. But the expansions give Terraforming Mars a whole new twist. Terraforming Mars Prelude makes the game a bit shorter, by giving your organization a boost at the beginning of the game. Terraforming Mars Venus Next adds a whole new game board (Venus). In this second expansion of Terraforming Mars, players can also build flying cities and work on making the rather dead planet Venus habitable. Finally, Terraforming Mars Hellas & Elysium adds a double-sided game board to the board game.
