You can choose not to buy a street or station if you land on it with your pawn. The whole of the Netherlands continues with the next player if a player decides not to buy the square, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, an auction should take place in which the highest bidder wins the street or station. That can make Monopoly a lot faster!
